The body structure is simple, without a heart, lungs, or brain, and obtains oxygen and emits waste through diffusion. By contracting and relaxing their muscles to move, they are able to float and swim gracefully in water. It is a food source for many marine organisms and a key predator that controls the number of planktonic organisms.
